Life in the fast lane...

There are a variety of possible traffic citations that a driver can get in Arizona. Some are minor (such as civil violations), some are misdemeanors and some are felonies (which are criminal violations). Getting a traffic citation in Arizona means that you are now in need of advice on TRAFFIC LAW IN ARIZONA. Don’t be misled or confused about the consequences of a traffic conviction in Arizona. Traffic convictions can sometimes mean you have been convicted of a CRIME.

What are some of the possible citations according to Arizona law?
There are many - a few are named here:

• Photo Radar
• Running a Red Light
• Speeding
• Criminal Speeding
• Reckless Driving
• DUI (Varying Degrees)
• Expired Registration
• Failure to Yield
• Squealing Tires
• Driving on a Suspended License
• Driving w/out a Driver's License
• Improper Right/Left Hand Turn

...and the list goes on and on. Have you ever seen a driver make a right turn into the middle lane rather than the closest right lane (also known as a wide turn)? Perhaps you have done this yourself. It almost seems common practice nowadays to make wide right or left hand turns without giving it a second thought. Well, you better give it a second thought! Why? Because that is what gives the police the right to pull you over and question you or further investigate you - whether its for the turn itself or something more (like DUI or drug possession or concealed weapons violations).

Traffic violations should not be underestimated as to the damage they can cause to you and your family. Just think of not being able to drive to the grocery store; or to pick up your children after school or a sporting event; or drive to work. What if someone had to take you all of those places because your driver’s license was suspended, revoked or cancelled? Think of it for a moment - really think about it. All of us take for granted, especially in the Valley, the ability to get in our cars and drive to wherever we need to go without really thinking about it much. Now, if that privilege were taken away, what impact would that have on you and your family?

While some of the violations under Arizona law certainly do not result in the loss of your driving privileges, many have other consequences. For example, you may have to pay a fine, you may have to take classes (for a fee and your time), you may have your insurance rates increased or terminated, and/or you may wind up with a criminal conviction on your record - all related to Arizona traffic law.

Criminal or civil charges involving traffic violations should not be taken lightly. If you don’t know the system, then you don’t know the options available to perhaps lessen the charge(s) or get them dismissed. You risk having a criminal record that can affect your job, your credit, appear on background checks and follow you for years. If you or someone you love is facing traffic charges, you owe it to yourself and your loved ones to get sound legal advice before you do anything or talk to anyone - especially the state.
